E-Plat System would be introduce by PDRM
Under the e-plate system proposed in 2006, each vehicle will receive the equivalent of the MyKad system containing information about the vehicle and its owner. The system was part of the Government’s Automated Enforcement System, which will also include 700 new surveillance cameras nationwide.
E-plate system, which uses microchip technology or Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), has been used in some developed countries such as France and Australia.
With the advent of e-plate, we can track criminals who use false registration numbers as well as to avoid the vehicle from being stolen - said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
Somehow we wait and see if this system will help police department to reduce crime. I personally believe, this kind of technology could be bypass by a lot of expertise of crime scene. You know, they will try to get what they want. However this system would be preventing stolen car cases.
